Windward School

Los Angeles, CA

Each year Windward School asks its graduating seniors to write encouraging letters to their classmates—much in the way Aerin did—to spread messages of friendship, support and joy. The letters can be read immediately, and also after they have parted ways for college and beyond.


The Skola

Whitefish, MT

“We are thrilled to be partnering with The Aerin Project! This project beautifully blends our intention toward bringing community connection into literacy. So often, we think these need to be separate when, in fact, they can be integrated for a true holistic learning experience,” said Brooke Ober, Educational Programs Director and Founder of The Skola. 

The program will be woven into the Skola’s experiential, community-centered curriculum, giving students a chance to practice compassion and build social-emotional skills while connecting to the enduring spirit of Aerin’s letters.

The Studio School

New York, NY

The Studio School opened in 1971 in the heart of New York City’s Greenwich Village as a one-room schoolhouse with twenty-five students, ages 4 to 12. The school now has 120 students, ages 2 to 14, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in a beautiful six-story building, utilizing an educational program that emphasizes the interplay of the intellect and the emotions, and is diverse and inclusive.

Duke University Women’s Leadership Lab

Durham, NC

Maggie Sellers, founder of Hotsmartrich, a female empowerment media and investing platform, spoke at Duke University Women’s Leadership Lab, teaching "soft skills" like confidence, resilience, and navigating ambiguity to empower future female leaders.

She asked students to write letters to each other using The Aerin Project’s prompt “open when you feel misunderstood.“
